Everyone is talking about it, many people have now seen it but; what is Stereoscopic 3D (S3D)? It is a technique which creates the illusion of depth in an image by generating a slightly different image for the left and right eye. We use our skills developed in the immersive, frameless environment of Fulldome to create eye-popping S3D effects and a seamless journey which makes the audience feel like they are actually there and can reach out and grab the contents of the screen.

We have completed several S3D productions for flat and domed screens; Mission Europa 3D a thrilling motion platform experience to the icy moon of Jupiter and, in 2010; Journey of Contrasts 4D for Our Dynamic Earth science centre in Scotland.

This production also features 4D effects including wind, snow, rumble and smell! Working alongside Global Immersion, one of our technology collaborators, we both provided the client with a turnkey solution that seamlessly integrates the new experience into the existing exhibition.

The 8 minute 4D experience is supported by a 12 minute pre-show which creates the illusion of being in an arctic base, which we also provided high-resolution printed panels for, to complete the setting. Working closely with ODE we designed a narrative which enabled us to cover a lot of science in a short space of time whilst still providing a highly entertaining and thought provoking immersive experience driven by high-end computer generated S3D visuals and a 7.1 surround sound score.
